Uttar Pradesh Set to Become $1 Trillion Economy, Driven by Startups and Innovation

The Bharat Startup Festival held at Amity University Noida has highlighted a major shift and it is that Uttar Pradesh is fast becoming a key player in India’s startup scene. The festival was hosted by Amity Innovation Incubator and in collaboration with the Bharat Startup and Innovation Society (BSIS). It attracted more than 1,100 startups and 5,000 participants from 14 countries.

Sunil Kumar Sharma from Minister of Electronics and IT praised the progress of Uttar Pradesh and revealed that it is now equipped with 12,000 registered startups and nearly half of it are led by women. He highlighted that the efforts of the state to support startups and urged young minds to lead with innovation.

Awanish Awasthi, the Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister, expressed confidence in the ambition of the state to become a $1 trillion economy. He pointed out that both startups and tourism are growing rapidly as well as contributing significantly to the state’s economy.

Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, emphasized the commitment of Amity to strengthen entrepreneurship. He said that the university’s incubator is among the country’s best. Amity aligns its efforts with the government’s goals of expanding the startup ecosystem and creating supportive environments for innovators.

Prof. Vinayak Nath, Co-Chair of Startup20 G20 and BSIS President, said that the state is home to about half of India’s unicorn startups.

The festival featured discussions on tech topics having potential to shape the future of India. Dr. Jitendra Kumar from BIRAC emphasized the role of biotech in advancing tech goals. Amity Vice Chancellor Dr. Balvinder Shukla urged the young minds to pursue such ventures that make a social impact.
