Walmart to hire 1,000 more people for its technology operations in India
One of the largest retail outlet company Walmart is going to hire more than 1000 people for the position of tech in India as it continues to focus more on the technology part to ward off competition from the other e-commerce rivals such as Amazon. Just 9 days ago, the Indian department of Walmart has announced that it expects to create at least more than 30000 direct and indirect jobs by setting up the 15 wholesale stores in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Now the latest buzz states that it is also going to look up for the ramping up the tech hiring.
The Retail outlet has its technology operations based out of Bangalore and Guru-gram with the employees having the headcount of 1800. Moreover, the company is also looking to expand its headcount and drive more product ownership out of India.
The development comes into the picture when the Walmart is looking to fil for the position of CFO(Chief Financial Operations), compliance officer and legal counsel for an e-commerce platform Flipkart.
Walmart CIO Clay Johnson said, “We are trying to be more product-oriented. We have taken whole projects and moved them over to drive the Indian ownership of the product. We think that is helping but this will help even more (in retaining talent).”
“A lot of our Internet-of-things work sits in our stores. A lot of those end-to-end products are done here with the sensors and the data are being done here,” he added.
The retail market company has also claimed that its technology attrition is at the industry level and it sees a normal attrition spike around the time period of between 2-7 years of areas.
Moreover, India is the only country just after Ireland to host the Walmart Labs outside After America.
