WhatsApp for windows has released a new version of its app for Windows, which no longer requires users to link their phone in order to send, receive and sync messages. As per latest update on the messaging app’s website, the new updated Windows app of WhatsApp has now moved out of its beta phase and is available for download on the Microsoft Store. With this update, Windows users can now enjoy the same seamless messaging experience that was previously only available to mobile users. The move is expected to further expand the popularity of WhatsApp, which already boasts more than two billion active users worldwide.

WhatsApp has launched a new update on windows app for Windows, allowing users to access the messaging service directly from their desktops. This replaces the previous requirement to download the web based desktop app or use a web browser. The app also introduces the ability to host group video calls with up to eight people and audio calls with up to 32 people. The company has stated that it plans to increase these limits over time, enabling users to stay connected with friends, family, and coworkers.

In addition to these new features, WhatsApp for windows continues to prioritize user privacy through its fully end-to-end encrypted messaging experience. This encryption applies to all personal messages, media, and calls across devices, including mobile phones, computers, tablets, and more.

Since introducing new multi-device capabilities, WhatsApp for windows has made several improvements, such as faster device linking and better syncing across devices. The company has also added new features, such as link previews and stickers, to enhance the user experience.

The latest updates on WhatsApp app

WhatsApp has been working on enhancing its desktop experience since it unveiled multi-device linking, which enables users to utilize a single account across various devices. Recently, the Facebook-owned messaging app introduced a new Mac client in public beta, which includes performance upgrades for Apple Silicone-based systems. Additionally, the company is currently testing a new version optimized for Android tablets.

Moreover, WhatsApp announced two new group-related features earlier this week. The first one allows group admins to review join requests under the “Pending Participants” section, while the second feature enables users to view shared groups in search results when searching for a name. Previously, one had to go to a contact’s profile to look at common groups.

Limits of WhatsApp for windows

WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop offer a range of features for users, but there are some limitations to keep in mind.

Located at the top of the chats next to the profile picture, the drop-down menu provides access to settings, log out, starred messages, and the ability to start a new group. In the settings, users can manage their last seen settings, disappearing messages, blocked contacts, and notification preferences. This includes the option to turn sound on or off, show previews, or turn off all desktop notifications.

However, there are a few features that are not supported on WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop. For example, if the primary device is an iPhone, users won’t be able to clear or delete chats on linked devices. Additionally, messaging or calling someone using a very old version of WhatsApp won’t be possible, and video calling or calling isn’t supported on WhatsApp Web.

Users should also note that live location viewing is not available on linked devices, and creating and viewing broadcast lists isn’t possible on these devices either.
