In the past few years, the WhatsApp community is taking many initiatives to compete with its rivals, which include Telegram and Signal. Recently the WhatsApp community has continued to involve several user-friendly features. Meta is working on developing its instant messaging service, as more than a billion people are actively dependent on the platform. Some of the features that have been added to the company are — stories in the main chat list and the ability for users to hide online status. This feature was previously available.
In April 2022, WhatsApp made a big announcement regarding the Communities feature, which is designed as a separate section for users to access multiple relevant groups. As per the WABetaInfo report, the company has already started testing the feature with some selected Android beta users.
The Availability of WhatsApp’s Communities feature
WhatsApp versions 2.22.19.3 (beta) and 2.22.19.2 (stable) are compatible enough with this server-side rollout. The update needs to be done by the end-potential users to the latest available version and will have to wait till the company rolls out the feature for them. Since it is a server-side rollout, there is no way for the users to force the feature to appear on their end.
What is the workability of WhatsApp’s Communities
The testers of the Android beta who received this latest update will find the old Camera tab replaced by a new WhatsApp Communities tab section. An image has also been revealed as a purpose to display how the app interface will look after the latest update.
The latest characteristics of the application will enable the users to create a new Community in which they can include up to 10 sub-groups. In each of the groups, there can be 512 members involved, the report claimed. The application is automatically going to create an “Announcements” group, which will include all sub-group members when any user starts a new Community.
WhatsApp’s Communities feature will be able to transmit common messages to everyone in a single attempt. However, WhatsApp won’t initially conceal the phone numbers of other participants inside sub-groups. This will maintain the transparency to visualize the contact information of the co-participants — until WhatsApp releases an update to hide one’s phone number.
Benefits of WhatsApp’s Communities features
WhatsApp’s new Communities will help in managing the task of schools or a neighbourhood.
