To testers, WhatsApp is making the launch of three of the latest features. The very first feature that was launched grants permission to the users to lock specific chats on iOS. The popular messaging app, WhatsApp is also testing the ability to share the Status with the Facebook friends of the user directly from WhatsApp. The testers of the beta can also test a feature that transcribes voice notes transmitted on WhatsApp, all this can be done on recent beta versions of the app on iOS. The voice transcription feature is the step that asks for iOS 16 for functioning.
Version 23.9.0.71 of WhatsApp beta for iOS supports a feature that allows beta testers to lock chats for some additional privacy. After the enablement, these chats can only be opened after successful authentication by using Face ID, or Touch ID. With this latest feature, users can be helped with navigating the chat information section and looking for a new section which is termed Locked Chats. After locking the chat, the sender names and message previews got hidden, while images and videos are not automatically saved to the phone’s Photos library.
WhatsApp is also deepening its integration with Facebook so that it can quickly share the user’s WhatsApp Status with their friends on the social networking service. Before the launch of this feature, users would be prompted to share their Status on Facebook by leaving the app. This integration will allow users to opt in to share their Status.
WhatsApp made the introduction of a voice transcription feature on version 23.9.0.70 of WhatsApp beta for iOS. This feature will also grant permission to the users to go through the contents of a voice note without connecting a pair of earphones or playing it over the phone’s speaker. This can be easily handled in situations where reading a voice note might be easier than listening to it.
The voice transcription feature on iOS is done on-device and not on WhatsApp’s servers. The voice notes will continue to remain protected. The app will make utilization of language packs that can be downloaded for the enablement of transcription in differentiated languages. The text from voice note transcriptions is also indexed and can be searched.
