You must have received a ridiculously lengthy voice message from the tech giant company, WhatsApp. Generally, people do not have time to listen to them. There may be the chance that the person is outside and is not carrying earphones with them. The launch of the new feature will transcribe audio messages into text is on its way to help you with this.
As per the latest analysis, it has been determined that the beta (23.3.0.73) of WhatsApp’s iOS app introduces a transcription feature for audio messages. The feature isn’t yet visible for users even if they’re on that version because it’s still in the stage of development. It seems to be that the sources have dug into the app deeply and thrown a switch to enable the feature.
Sources have also shared a screenshot of an “introduction screen” that makes the explanation of when the transcription is not available. From what we can tell, transcriptions will be supporting multiple languages, although the user will have to manually select the language of the voice messages primarily to make it work. In other simple words, if the transcription language is different from the language of the voice message, WhatsApp will fail to recognize the same.
These transcriptions are always performed locally on the device by downloading relevant language packs so that only the reader can read the fact.
WhatsApp has not yet revealed when the launch of audio transcriptions is going to get available to the users. There is an unavailability of hints that are determining the feature being under development on Android as well.
