Is Zepto walking the Amazon path? At least a bold vision of its CEO defines the same. Aadit Palicha lately made headlines by comparing the rapid-delivery startup with the e-commerce giant Amazon. He believes that if things go in his way, Zepto could be worth $80 billion in the future. He seems confidence and probably his company has the potential to rise so high.
Zepto’s growth in the delivery market has been well recognized. This is the age of convenience and the startup has carved out a niche by promising fast delivery of essentials. Its model has appealed the urban population as the pace of life demands quick solutions. However, scaling the business to the level of Amazon is highly challenging. Today’s Amazon was not built overnight. It took years of innovation, expansion and adaptation to customer needs.
Palicha’s comparison to Amazon is also about the potential of his company to become a dominant player in the market. Amazon initially was an online bookstore. It quickly added more categories and eventually has become a one-stop shop for virtually everything. Zepto is currently focusing on rapid delivery of groceries and essentials. It may soon diversify its offerings. It may soon expand categories.
However, the path to reach such a height would not be easy or smooth. Zepto need to overcome several significant hurdles to achieve the vision. Ultra-fast delivery market is highly competitive as there are multiple players offering the same service. Zepto need to enhance its operational efficiency, customer retention and innovative ability too. It should sustain the logistics of rapid delivery on a large scale. It should adapt a robust supply chain, a fleet of delivery personnel and of course the latest technology to manage it all seamlessly.
