This is an era of mobile app. We try to make use of various apps for various tasks including health monitoring and activating payments. However, Zero Homes is an app with a difference. It is developed and designed for homeowners. It is designed to help homeowners to transition to clean energy solutions like electric vehicle (EV) chargers and heat pumps.
Zero Homes app is the brain child of Entrepreneur Grant Gunnison and the primary focus is to accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels in American homes.
With the use of Zero Homes app homeowners can scan their living spaces and inventory their appliances digitally through smartphone cameras. The app creates personalized home decarbonization plans. It is something like the Aurora Solar that designs rooftop solar systems remotely.
Grant Gunnison has a portfolio of working at NASA and he understands the challenges faced by contractors in gathering home data. He found that with the help of imaging technology and software he could streamline the process. And hence the contractors can easily focus on installing clean energy equipment efficiently. Further, the process can lower down the costs and make clean energy upgrades affordable.
This means that the Zero Homes app operates as a one-stop shop for home electrification. As of now, it has partnered with local installers in Boston, Denver and Northern California to serve homeowners. It is also expanding to rural Colorado and Chicago.
The startup has received $3 million funding from venture capital investors like Overture, FJ Labs and VoLo Earth. It has simultaneously managed in acquiring $1 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
