Based in Bude, Cornwall, the startup has launched a solution that is aimed to address microfibers pollution that mainly originates from the laundry activities. The innovative approach has been appreciated in the industry and simultaneously secured a prestigious environmental award.

Microfibers released during washing activities at home represent a significant contributor to the microplastics pollution. These particles permeate water bodies and pose grave health hazards including cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer. Data reveals the ocean harbors about 170 trillion pieces of plastic and majority comprises microplastics.

The Indi home microfiber filter of CSG is learned to be a game changer in the fight against microplastic contamination. It seamlessly integrates with conventional washing machines, intercepting microfibers from wastewater before these infiltrate natural water sources.

However, the potential impact of the innovation is unknown and depends on adoption of the technology by households. If successfully implemented, it could prevent our oceans and it could be equivalent to 1.3 billion plastic bags.

Meanwhile, CSG has grabbed Green-Tech Ocean Impact award for its outstanding efforts in the fight against plastic pollution. The award was accompanied with prize money of $50,000 AUD. CSG CEO Dave Miller highlighted the profound personal affinity of his team for the ocean and their unwavering commitment to its preservation.

Widespread adoption is awaited and it is said that individuals can contribute to the cause by opting for eco-friendly alternatives that includes using plastic-free clothing and products. The innovative approach of the startup marks a significant stride forward in the ongoing battle against plastic pollution.
